Self-Evaluation?

Isn't it funny how we each tend to see our own shortcomings just a little bit, "less short" than someone else may see them!  I mean, I can easily identify a bad attitude or ungrateful person when shopping, but if I'm going through a hard time, crying out to God to hear my needs...I seem to feel others should allow for my less pleasant demeanor...and understand!!!

David cried out to God in Psalm 139 to "Search deep into my heart, Oh LORD.  You'll see how I worry and fret over "things".  Help me to see the "hurtful ways" that I don't seem to recognize and lead me in the way I should go" (paraphrased verses 23-24)  It takes a lot of nerve to honestly ask God to show us what we really need work on.  Strangely, it's often things that those close to us could point out - but we'd never hear it from them!

These are most uncertain times, and as a professing Christian I have to get over myself, honestly ask my heavenly Father to reveal to me how bad the hidden sin in my heart is - help me deal with it and then be about seeing the overwhelming need for Christ in the hearts of those around me!  Trying to be good isn't good enough - these are perilous times and I want to be useful to a LORD Who paid such a high cost to save me...and those around me.

Remember, we're now featuring a "Daily Scripture" (The brown "Bible Gateway" box in the upper center of the homepage)  If you ever want to submit a favorite Scripture for us to feature, just reply here or e-mail it to literockonline@hotmail.com  AND, we're now re-playing the "Morning Meeting" weekday evenings from 8-10 Central and again each morning at 7...just before the "live" meeting at 9.

Make it a Great day and Thanks for supporting the Vision!

Keeping a positive outlook

There's no doubt that these are some of the hardest times in our lives.  We've been struggling with an abused and propped up economy and the wars and world disasters seem to be coming at us faster than we can absorb them emotionally.  It's easy for someone to tell you that "we have nothing to gripe about" considering what all is going on everywhere else...but does that mean that in light of the horror in Japan, and the military strikes in Libya that I shouldn't feel the sting of the water heater going out?  What about the guilt you feel for acknowledging "bad luck" when you're late for work and the car won't start...while another nuclear reactor has begun to leak radiation in Japan?

I believe God want's us to have perspective and always be thankful for the good things in our life, but just because you see someone break their leg...doesn't mean you shouldn't feel pain when you jamb your finger!  As Christians, it's our responsibility to pray for those in need and to do what we can to ease suffering, but we're not expected to be numb to ourselves...whether emotionally or physically.

Just remember...as you go through today, your privilege is to pray and intercede for those in need - world wide and next door, BUT as one of "His little sheep" the "Good Shepherd" is concerned with everything you go through.  He has enough Grace and Mercy to comfort and heal in Japan, Libya, Afghanistan AND at your house.

I'm lickin' my lips!

http://www.sallyandterrywright.com

This morning while it was still only about 45 degrees and sunny, Sal & I were enjoying our coffee and Ginger had to go out and explore what all had happened in her territory through the night (sniff-sniff).  When she popped her little head up at the base of the full-windowed back door, I could see she was cold and ready to come back in and warm up.  As I let her in I asked her if she'd like some warm milk.  She knows what that means.  She sat on the carpet just adjacent to cold hardwood floor of  the kitchen and fixed her eyes on me as poured up her milk into a bowl and then teased a little while moving over to the microwave.  You could see her becoming more antsy as she began to anticipate how good it would be.  First 10 seconds, then I dipped a finger to test it...then another 5 and I tested it again and as I reset the timer for the final 7 seconds she looked as if she could cry!  FINALLY, I removed it from the microwave and carefully walked to her food area and sat it down.  As she is trained...she remained still just waiting for me to finish the ritual...  I again dipped one finger into her warm milk and moved toward her to let her taste it from my finger.  NOW, she began to lick her chops!  The funniest and cutest thing in the world - she patiently waited to lick the milk from my finger before walking to her bowl and literally submerging her cold nose in the warm milk while lapping furiously the treat she had waited so patiently for!

Isn't it funny how waiting seems to be one of the best and worst things in life?  Best?....who likes waiting?  Well, it's all in how you look at it.  When you know that you're going out for a special dinner, you "look forward" to it until the day, then you start to really imagine...the ambiance of the restaurant and what you'll wear.  As the workday draws to an end you begin to - "lick your lips" in anticipation of what you KNOW is about to happen!

Faith is the substance of things hoped for.  Believing that something is earmarked just for you - though you can't submerge your cold nose in it just yet!  Faith is the evidence of things that are hoped for...maybe the "date" that has been set, or the ritual of watching someone warm your milk...believing it's for you.  It is very important and useful to stir up the "evidence."  Keep your eye on the one "warming your milk" or as I like to do...keep looking forward to the "date!"  I hold promises that God has given to Sal & me as I hope you do.  When the daily grind of cold mornings, $3.30 per gallon gas prices when I need a fill-up and fires all around that I need to put out - all begin to get my focus...I try to think about my "date".  I'm not sure when the date is, but I know that as sure as the promise was made, the date is set.  IF - today is not the day, then today has drawn me one day closer.  I choose to stir up my Faith.  Though Ginger still didn't have the milk, she knew I wasn't gonna tease her and not give her what she was promised.  Her Faith in me was so pleasing and I was so happy to treat her.

"Don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This isn't a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we're in. If your child asks for bread, do you trick him with sawdust? If he asks for fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? As bad as you are, you wouldn't think of such a thing. You're at least decent to your own children. So don't you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better? Matthew 7:7-11 --The Message Version

EVERYday...

Access this blog directly from http://www.sallyandterrywright.com

The apostle Paul wrote: "the race isn't given to the fastest runner...rather the one who endures to the end!"  I think of the times in my life when I bathed in the glowing passion of spiritual fervor, and as exhilarating as it is - it doesn't stick around.  About the time I felt I could actually walk on the surface of the water - somebody would come along and burst my bubble with something unavoidably carnal!!!  Amy Grant (Sunday's featured Artist of the Day) sang about the Mountain Top Experiences...and as we've learned all too often, they are usually short lived.

Looking back over our 21+ years together, Sally and I have found that, indeed the most fertile ground for cultivating the lessons God teaches us - is found in the valleys of our everyday life.  The worst of it is not realizing that we weren't meant to live this plush, always-on-top life, but rather that sometimes we emulate to others that that is what they can have by following our LORD.  The Christian life is hard, and full of disappointments and failures...but so is life without Christ.  The big difference is life without Christ is life without Hope, and life without the Peace that actually does pass understanding.  AND there can be a sweet walk of victory even in the turmoil of day to day...if we choose to live in it by Faith.  In the Psalms we were told that God has prepared a banquet for us in the presence of our enemies...and since we know our enemies will NOT be in heaven, He is referring to right here - right now, in the midst of the problems that won't seem to go away and the attacks that don't seem to relent.

Eat!  Eat your fill and drink of the cup of hope that your Father has prepared for you.  The banquet is before you now...even in the presence of your enemies, but you have to choose, by Faith to see it in order to partake!  "Pass the blessings and give me another slice of Peace, please!!"  Have a great Tuesday and remember it's there if we'll see it and take it!

Our Video of the Day is a short clip of Frank Buckles, the 110 year old WW1 survivor (last one known of) who passed away yesterday.  It is very touching.  And we now have the past "Sally & Terry Picks" archived in case you missed one, just go to the top of the page and click "Past Videos."  Alabama is "Artist of the Day" heard at the top of each hour AND at half-past, and Sally will be in to join us at 9 Central.  Hope to TTYThen!  :-)&(-:

02/28's 411 :-)&(-:

I'm looking forward to the rising of the sun to see what didn't blow away yesterday!  It has been a decade or more since I recall such powerful and relentless winds, and dirt!  Thank God we were sheltered and comfortable - my heart is hurting this morning as I add all of the news coverages on the destruction of the wildfires across our beloved panhandle and plains.  Many are still burning, some out of control and Matador has had mandatory evacuations since yesterday afternoon/evening.  Our prayers certainly go out to all of these folks, some who've lost everything.  Remember, our Headlines on the homepage are updated regularly to keep you informed with what's going on locally as well as around the globe.

I'm sure excited about Sally coming back in this morning and joining me for the "Morning Meeting."  As you may recall, the Saturday after Thanksgiving she fell and broke her right arm almost at the shoulder.  It has been very slow healing and we're going to see an orthopedic surgeon later this week and really need your prayers.  Not only has mobility been severely limited...it's also very painful and been hindering her sleep for months - yet she's still a glowing ray of God's love and optimism.  Hope you'll be here this morning - AND hopefully she'll be here every weekday morning again!  Oh, BTW, remember - I come in at 5:40AM everyday and usually start hosting by 6:30 or so and correspond with folks through Facebook (Terry Wright), Twitter (SATMornings) and e-mail (literockonline@hotmail.com).  We moved our broadcast studios and editing/production facilities together...so as I work on websites and production all day...I'm On-air with you guys!

Remember, our YouTube "Today's Sally & Terry Pick" is a hand-picked video, that changes out each day to make it easier for you to keep plugged into YouTube. Just another way to surprise your grandkids with your "hi-tech" activity!  :-)  Today's is REALLY funny...a TV host interviewing a couple about their intimacy in spite of physical disability...the husband has such a high squeaky voice that at the worst time - the host loses his composure and cracks up...I challenge you not to do the same!  Ha!  I LOVE a good laugh!

Have a Super Monday and just lemme know if we can play something for you.  TTYSoon!

being spoiled..rotten-er. :-)

Thanks for all of the well-wishes on my 52nd birthday, y'all.  I should be ashamed at the way Sally is babying me today...but I'm not!  She'll get hers in a couple of months.

Know what I still want for my BD?  Just for YOU - to check out our featured  YouTube video of the day.  It is a chill-bump inspiring "must see"  Hope you enjoy!

Cha-cha-cha-changes...

The warm weather left as soon as it got here and now after seasonal record lows and record highs within two weeks...it's 25 degrees as I write this!

Hopefully by now you've visited our new website where LiteRockonline.com resides.  It's been a long time coming and there is still a long way to go but we're sure excited to get more involved in providing a fully informative web visit.  Notice the news is regularly updated - and not automatically...we'll keep an eye on major events as well as the latest scoop near home.

We are particularly interested in the new "Web Directory".  The Hale Center & Plainview pages will be growing as we discover sites and you'll notice some of them have ads, above the link.  If you have a website and want to be included, it's free...just get us your information.  If you want a placement ad on the Hale Center or Plainview pages just inquire when you write.  The "Friends" page is for non-local friends and colleagues to share their talents, and abilities via their websites and we'll gladly include a placement image no larger than 120H X 180W(px) if you include it.  "If ya don't know what that means...just send a picture and we'll get it in there!"  :-)

We're also featuring a YouTube video of the day - sometimes a music video, sometimes a funny commercial and sometimes just what's hot at the time so we can all keep up with the grandkids!!!  "Artist of the Day" will begin each hour and if you click their image it you'll be taken to an appropriate website representing that artist.  AND, we'll have some cool games on the "Games" page...as soon as we get our first 25 hour day!

Did I miss anything?  Probably...but we're young...right?  ;-)  If you have ideas or suggestions please pass them along.  We have some of the most successful and creative friends on Earth (YOU) and we love getting your input.

Well, it's almost 7AM...the news is updated and I need to prepare a weather announcement...hope you're listening, maybe I'll play that song you like!  Make it a Great Day....for someone else, then it'll be a Great day for you.

All of God's richest to those who'll just believe it!  TTYL
